The product
The White House Blend™
Researching lime and mortar in early America, Ben found a book written in the late 1700s — and in it, the original recipe used to whitewash the White House when it was built. That is where our name came from, and it is on our logo. We make it authentically the same way, by hand, in house. Read the history.
This is the same limewash we put on our clients' walls — not a retail-grade version of it. It cures by reabsorbing carbon dioxide and turning back into limestone, which is why it can't peel and why it deepens over years instead of degrading.
There are no synthetic binders and no solvents in it, so there is nothing to off-gas into a room after it dries. Lime is naturally alkaline, which makes the finished surface inhospitable to mold and mildew without any added biocide.

In 1798 the President’s House was coated in a lime-based whitewash to protect its porous sandstone from moisture and freezing. More than two centuries later, we brought that formula back — and we still make it that way today.
