Moroccan Tadelakt · DFW · Austin · Palm Beach

Ancient beauty.
Eternal durability.

Authentic, hand-applied Tadelakt plaster — crafted and installed using the same traditional methods developed centuries ago, for the wettest rooms in the house.

100% natural, tinted by hand.

We specialize in authentic, hand-applied Tadelakt plaster, using 100% natural lime-based systems from the world's leading manufacturers — high-calcium lime, marble powder and fine mineral aggregates, free of synthetic additives.

Each batch is custom-tinted by hand using raw earth pigments, producing velvety, monolithic surfaces with subtle movement, tonal depth and organic warmth. No two finishes are ever alike — every wall is a living, breathing, one-of-a-kind work of art.

The application

Our artisans apply Tadelakt through multiple hand-troweled coats, compressing the plaster into the surface with precision and care. Each layer is meticulously shaped and smoothed to create a continuous stone-like finish with gentle curves and elegant transitions.

Once dry, the surface is polished using traditional agate stones, which compress the lime into a tighter, water-resistant mass — and bring out its natural luminosity and sheen.

The sealing ritual: black soap

The finish is sealed with traditional black olive soap. The soap saponifies with the free lime in the plaster, forming calcium stearate — a water-repellent compound that lives inside the surface rather than sitting on top of it. This is what makes Tadelakt genuinely suitable for wet spaces, and why it has survived in Moroccan hammams for centuries.

Built for wet spaces — showers, tubs and spas

While rooted in tradition, Tadelakt is a favorite in modern high-end design for its seamless, sculptural beauty and natural resistance to moisture. The result is a finish that feels like smooth, polished stone — breathable, anti-microbial, and designed to last a lifetime.

Every Tadelakt project by LimeWash Pros LLC carries a 2-year application warranty, covering faults and errors in our application process. We know exactly what goes into our work, and we stand behind it.

If you want a finish that whispers luxury and carries the weight of history, Tadelakt is unmatched.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is Tadelakt genuinely waterproof?

Tadelakt is compressed and polished with agate stone, then sealed with traditional black olive soap. The soap reacts with the lime to form calcium stearate — a natural water-repellent layer within the surface itself, not a coating on top of it. That is why it has been used in Moroccan hammams for centuries and why it belongs in walk-in showers and wet rooms.

Can Tadelakt be used in a shower with no tile at all?

Yes — that is its natural home. A correctly built Tadelakt shower is seamless, with no grout lines to harbour mold. The substrate preparation and waterproofing beneath the plaster matter enormously, which is why we evaluate every wet-room substrate before quoting.

How do I maintain a Tadelakt surface?

Very little is required. Wipe down with water and re-treat occasionally with black soap to refresh the water-repellent layer. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners, which attack the lime.

Is every Tadelakt finish unique?

Yes. Each batch is custom-tinted by hand using raw earth pigments, producing velvety, monolithic surfaces with subtle movement and tonal depth. No two finishes are ever alike.
